Happy New Year!!

I thought 2011 was going to be horrible. I remember dreading the thought of going back to school full time, of not being able to have a life and time to do the things I enjoy, and having to study all the time. Little did I know that 2011 was going to be, maybe not the most enjoyable year of my life (2010 def holds that title thus far), but definitely the most monumental. For starters, I passed Nursing School! What a crazy journey that has been! When I started nursing school they told us that "Nursing is a Honor". I didn't get it. Today i realize what they meant. In my short span of clinicals i have had a couple of my patients look me in the eyes and thank me for my work. I have held the hand of man who was in his last days of life. I have sang shakira songs to my Spanish speaking older lady and made her smile. As a nurse, i have the honor of helping someone at their most vulnerable time, to help put someone at ease, and of course provide care so that I may help bring them

Sticky Situations

6 month update....WHERE DO I BEGIN?????????? ok so i have broken some rules i set myself for this year, but i have also kept some important ones... 1. I passed my first semester of nursing school! I don't know if time flew or the semester was forever long but one thing was for sure it was def an interesting few months. I made some great friends...they are truly sweethearts, and they are def making the experience of being back in school more bearable! They are all crazy in their own way, but they are also so genuine, and kind hearted, and somehow we all seem to get each other...its a great dynamic! Nursing itself is a little overwhelming at times, it is so much information and skills to learn in such a short period of time..sometimes i think my brain is just swamped! Clinical are also a roller-coaster of emotions... sometimes they are rewarding but alot of times they are a pain in the ass, a shit ton of work, and exhausting! On wednesday i start my first pediatric rotation so that s

I am doing me!!

2010 was an epic year. I set some goals for myself and accomplished all of them. I got into nursing school, worked for a year as a therapist in an amazing facility, passed a semester of classes, traveled, lost weight, took salsa classes, volunteered, and basically did whatever felt right at the time!So when it came to make goals for this year I was initially at a loss! What could i do to top last year? Well after some thought here is what I came up with! 1. I will not buy any non essential articles of clothing until atleast March 1st. This is in effort to teach to me some fiscal responsibility (lol i sound like a politician but i can't really come up with another word). I really need to instill better spending habits in myself, and more importantly better saving habits! 2. I will not act a fool- hahahahha I am not in college anymore and I should really stop partying like I am! Dance, spend quality time w/ friends, laugh, have fun, but do not act a fool! =) 3. Could try and lose ten
