A Year In Review: An Introduction

This will be a multiple post series, because currently I am sick as hell and in no condition to write a well thought out, comprehensive piece right now. 2013 has been quite the year. Lots of heart ache, lots of learning, and lots of traveling. Everything from kulfi to family medical problems, has left me smarter and stronger to face the following year. Another day I will analyze the hell out of this year, but for today, I will talk about what faces me tomorrow.

So, I got back on Shaadi. Not really because I don't meet people out, but out of pure laziness. It provides an extensive database of brown men that I can filter at my leisure. Anyways, I started talking to this dude out in the Midwest. Cool guy, really nice, always laughing.. and ummm I am meeting him tomorrow! He is actually flying out here! What I like about him is that he straightforward. He texts and he CALLS. He makes plans. He knew I was sick, and he checked in with me. He is about it. No trace of arrogance, at least not yet. I really hope there is physical chemistry, because really right now, he is winning.  And the good thing is I am so jaded, that even if it doesn't work out, I am not too vested so I will move on. But I do hope I like him. I am also talking to two other dudes. But one is whatever. I am kinda over the "I am over 30 and still want to play games" dude. Don't text me, pick up the damn phone and call me. Make plans. Be aggressive.  Honestly, I have been on and off shaadi for two years now, and yes I haven't found anyone yet, but I am only 26. I have no doubts I will find someone in due time. WTH are some of these guys smoking? I saw your profile on this site two years and you are still lumbering around trying to find someone? Buddy, wake up. You are not shah rukh khan and you are only growing older by the year. But anyways, their life not mine.

Anyways, I am praying I feel better by tomorrow, and the date goes well!

It's been a crazy four years, but today marks the official end of my undergraduate career. How can I sum my time at Rutgers in a blog post? Totally impossible. Direction

The roads of our lives come with no maps. No signs to tell us when to yield, when to stop, or when to go. Streets, alleys, and highways are forged as we drive along. There are crossroads, and choices to be made. There are u-turns, and detours. Sometimes we take the expressway, and other times the local. Sometimes its sunny, and sometimes it rains. But we keep driving. We keep driving. We drive and we drive, until one day our engine dies. Where did the road lead us? What was our destination? What was our purpose? 21 years. 21 years i have spent on these planet. What have i done? What have I achieved. Why am i here? I am driving, but it is foggy outside. The "Illegal"

Recently, Vishnu and I watched "Illegal", a 2019 drama film directed by Danish Renzu. This powerful movie tells the story of a young man who comes to the US on a student visa to pursue his dream of becoming a film director. However, his journey is far from easy and the story sheds light on the many struggles he encounters along the way. As I watched the film, I was overwhelmed by a sense of melancholy and gratitude.  The melancholy came mostly from my thoughts of my parents, aunts and uncles, in-laws, and other cherished people in my life who had faced similar challenges when they arrived in the United States nearly three decades ago. Although they seldom discuss their experiences, I know that life was incredibly difficult for them back then. Many of my loved ones worked arduous jobs, sometimes multiple jobs simultaneously, just to ensure that there was food on the table.
