She Wore It Better
A couple of weeks ago, I was scrolling IG, and came across this outfit worn by Kylie Jenner. Not going to lie, I instantly fell in love with the effortless chic vibes she was putting out. The blazer contrasted with the biker shorts and sneakers was genius. I would have NEVER thought to put that together, but here it was, and it looked amazing. The silver fanny pack not only cinched her waist and accentuated her curves, but also added an edgy, funky element to the already super cool outfit.
I originally had no plans of trying to re-create this outfit. For starters, I didn't think I could pull it off, and I can not (more on that later). And also, it really isn't my style. I am more of a dress girl myself. But fate would have it, that I was freezing cold one day and needed to buy a blazer/jacket to keep me warm for the evening and I saw this pink blazer in Macys for a great price. It was like I meant to try this outfit out, and live out my Kylie dreams (I am crazy, I know). So here it is, my budget rendition of Kylie Jenner's Badass Boss Woman Who Just Finished Biking Outfit. ↓↓↓↓
So I think I pulled off my version of Kylie's outfit OKAY, but oh my god, the original version was a sight to see on me!!! Haha, I tried on the blazer and fanny pack with black biker shorts (hit the same length on my legs as it did on her), and these ugly saucony white/black/blue sneakers (this homegirl is old, and needs shoes with support- don't judge)... and LOLOLOLOL it looked awful on me!!! My roommate and I most definitely shared some laughs over that ensemble. It literally looked liked I went from the office, straight to a mountain bike ride, and somehow ended up at happy hour. It was just all kinds of crazy. Respect to Kylie for pulling that madness off, and making it look 100.
In my version, I changed up the biker shorts for dark wash jean shorts. I changed the sneakers to nude heels. I wish my fanny pack was cooler, but I was pressed for time, and so I ordered this one from amazon prime.
**A little side note on fanny packs. Lol I am sooooo happy they are making a come back. This ish is beyond comfortable, and makes life 100x easier. Now I can use BOTH my arms to dance, drink, text, and basically be my wild, crazy self. Not to mention, I am not going to lose anything (I can be notoriously absent minded) because it is freaking attached to me. I am team fanny pack**
Overall, I thought the outfit worked pretty well! It was comfortable, and perfect for Southern California evenings (cool but not cold). I would NOT recommend this outfit for dancing. It was kinda of stiff to move around in, and I got pretty hot in the blazer, but I think it is the perfect outfit for grabbing some drinks or dinner!!
